During this Inspire 2023 interstitial program, Mary Beth Chalk, Cofounder and Chief Commerical Officer at BeeKeeperAI, is interviewed regarding their successful implementation of a confidential data clean room for Novartis Biome on Azure. This solution, based on Azure VMs with application enclaves, allowed Novartis to use patient data from multiple 3rd party sources to train their AI models to enable more accurate insights into how various drug therapies can treat rare childhood diseases. These VMs rely on 3rd generation Intel Xeon scalable processors with Intel Software Guard Extensions (Intel SGX) which protect data while in use in memory. This enables BeeKeeperAI to pool this sensitive healthcare data while maintaining patient privacy and regulatory compliance. The result is faster, more accurate insights than were possible before this technology was introduced. And in addition to accelerating the training of AI models, the solution helps ensure the privacy of the valuable AI models themselves.
