Musgrave is Ireland’s leading food retail, wholesale, and food service company. The 146-year-old, family-run company owns 11 food retail and wholesale brands, including SuperValu supermarkets and Centra convenience stores. The majority of Musgrave stores are independently run franchises. But store operations relied on aging technology, with legacy Wi-Fi that slowed daily tasks like ordering and inventory reconciliation. Musgrave’s central IT team lacked visibility into the network service quality at stores. Network upgrades or fixes required multiple teams, with engineers on site, and were performed off-hours to avoid business disruption.
As part of its digital transformation efforts, Musgrave wanted to modernize its in-store technology to help its franchise partners attract and retain customers in a competitive grocery and convenience market. A turnkey, store-in-a-box solution that would allow franchise partners to take advantage of new in-store technologies while lowering IT costs. The vision called for a modern cloud-managed network that integrated wired, wireless, and SD-WAN connectivity and supported indoor location services for future customer engagement innovations.
