V4L2 Video Decoder/Encoder Development Journey – Nas Chung, Chips&Media

For people who are not familiar with Linux, driver development and upstream processes will feel very difficult like me. This session will share the experiences I had while developing the V4L2 video decoder/encoder driver. My development journey can be divided into four parts: Study V4L2 specification, Initial development on FPGA board, Verification on TI test board, Understanding linux-kernel upstream process. I would like to share what problems I faced in each process and how I solved them using which tools and method. Although This talk focused on the V4L2 driver, I hope that it will also be helpful in developing your own device drivers.
